Color Blindness Simulator

Accessibility simulation studio. Evaluate how colors and user interface components are perceived across different types of color vision deficiencies.

Client-Side Engine

Executed locally via HTML5 Canvas & Web API. Zero server upload.

Red-Blind~1% of males

Protanopia

Absence of long-wavelength-sensitive retinal cones (L-cones). Reds appear dark brown or olive, and pinks appear blueish.

#6366F1
Green-Blind~1% of males, 5% deuteranomaly

Deuteranopia

Absence of medium-wavelength-sensitive cones (M-cones). Greens appear yellow-brown, and purples are easily confused with blues.

#6366F1
Blue-Blind<0.1% of population

Tritanopia

Absence of short-wavelength-sensitive cones (S-cones). Blues appear greenish, and yellows look pink or light grey.

#6366F1
Monochromacy~0.003% of population

Achromatopsia

Total color blindness. Vision is perceived solely in shades of grey, black, and white based on luminance contrast.

How to Use This Tool

01

Enter Color or Palette

Input any hex color code or populate the simulator from your active Session Workbench.

02

Select Deficiency

Inspect simulated perception across Protanopia, Deuteranopia, Tritanopia, and Achromatopsia.

03

Compare Live UI

Inspect interactive buttons, alerts, and badges rendered side-by-side in normal vs. simulated spectrums.

04

Refine Contrast

Identify problematic color collisions and adjust luminance to guarantee universal clarity.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE & METHODOLOGY

Frequently Asked Questions

How common is color vision deficiency (CVD)?+

Approximately 1 in 12 men (8%) and 1 in 200 women (0.5%) have some form of color vision deficiency worldwide. Red-green blindness (Deuteranomaly & Protanomaly) is by far the most prevalent.

How does the Brettel/Viénot LMS simulation algorithm work?+

The mathematical simulator projects sRGB color coordinates into the physiological Long (L), Medium (M), and Short (S) cone response space. By removing or re-weighting specific cone responses and projecting back to linear RGB, it faithfully reproduces the optical experience of dichromats.
