Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Warmth index (Warm vs Cool) determined?+

Warmth is categorized according to spectral wavelength psychology. Hues between 0° and 90° (Reds, Oranges, Yellows) and 300° to 360° (Magentas/Warm Purples) are classified as Warm. Hues between 90° and 300° (Greens, Cyans, Blues, Violets) are classified as Cool. Highly desaturated colors or extreme lightness values are classified as Neutral.

How does nearest color name matching work?+

The analyzer calculates the weighted Euclidean color distance in sRGB space against a static dictionary of over 1,500 curated pigments, returning the closest historical, architectural, and design nomenclature.
